About this course

Learners develop a personal line of enquiry across several weeks, testing and refining ideas through drawing and painting. The course covers line, mark making, form, anatomy, observation, composition, colour relationships, perspective and spatial construction, with subjects ranging from still life and landscape to abstraction. Sketchbooks support planning and reflection, while discussion helps participants consider their intentions, influences and decisions. Teaching combines guidance with increasing independence, including work in and outside the studio. Artists and visual traditions are also explored to place developing work in a wider context.
