About this course

Participants develop a small series of prints or a project, experimenting with layering, colour and mixed media. Printmaking can be combined with drawing, collage or painting to explore different ways of developing an idea. The course focuses on testing, editing and revising work, with reference to artists from different cultures and traditions. Learners are guided to make more considered choices about technique, materials and composition, then reflect on their results and identify possible future directions.

What you'll learn

  • Develop a small series or body of print work
  • Select techniques, materials and compositions for a particular intention
  • Refine prints through testing, editing and revision
  • Combine printmaking with drawing, collage or painting
  • Evaluate completed work and identify future directions

Is this course right for you?

The course is aimed at learners at beginner level and involves developing an individual project through experimentation, testing and reflection. The level label suggests an introduction to the subject, while the project format allows learners to explore and refine their own direction.

  • The focus is on learning and practising skills rather than producing large quantities of work.

Before you go

  • Materials are provided, but supplies are limited.
