About this course
Participants explore sculpture through individual projects across clay modelling, plaster mould making and casting, armature construction, construction, metal techniques, and wood or stone carving. Beginners are introduced to new media through short projects, while learners can develop work in a chosen medium. Teaching includes step-by-step demonstrations, primarily one-to-one tuition and some group work for beginners. Handouts cover health and safety, materials, techniques and reference resources. The course also addresses workshop practice and discussing ideas in relation to individual projects and the wider class.

The course is designed for complete beginners and intermediate learners with an interest in sculpture and art in design. Beginners receive additional support and take part in some group work, while projects are otherwise developed individually. Some media may involve lifting, with help available when needed.
