About this course

Participants investigate how sounds from the surrounding environment can be captured and used in creative, documentary and ecological contexts. The course combines short lectures, guided listening, on-location recording sessions, practical exercises and group discussion. Topics include microphone setup, listening strategies, context and ethics, creative approaches to recorded sound, and basic editing and sound treatment. Learners also consider applications in sound art, film, radio, archives and environmental work, producing a short field recording piece or audio sketch to share with the group.
