About this course
The course explores how individual film moments contribute to spectatorship, memory and interpretation. It considers the relationship between film form and cinematic expression, including narrative, emotion, visual style and the viewer’s personal response. Teaching combines tutor presentations, collective viewing of film clips, and discussion in small and larger groups. Participants will examine examples from individual films, discuss their own significant film experiences, and use relevant film-studies terminology and theoretical approaches to analyse selected moments or excerpts.
