About this course

Participants work from live models, progressing from short-pose tonal studies to longer, more developed figure drawings and paintings. The course explores dry media, acrylic paint and other approaches to texture, layering, blending and mark-making. Teaching combines tutor demonstrations, practical exercises, individual practice, one-to-one guidance and group discussion. Learners investigate how tonal and textural techniques can suggest three-dimensional form, while developing figurative work and beginning to identify personal areas of artistic interest.

The course is designed for beginners and improvers interested in figure drawing and painting. No previous experience is required, although learners are expected to be willing to experiment and work with live models. Sessions include individual practice, one-to-one teaching and group discussion.
