About this course
The course develops a broad range of contemporary guitar techniques through songs and pieces selected to focus on areas such as fingerpicking, strumming patterns, scales, melody playing and rhythm. It also introduces relevant musicianship, including transposing songs and following song form. Teaching combines ensemble playing, solo work and individual attention where appropriate. The repertoire provides opportunities to work with chord sequences, accompaniment patterns and simple improvisation.

- Apply fingerpicking, strumming, scale, melody and rhythm techniques
Is this course right for you?
This improver-level course is intended for guitarists developing beyond fundamental techniques. Participants should already be able to play a substantial range of major and minor chords, including barre chords, and have a working knowledge of music theory equivalent to completing Guitar 3A.
- Previous guitar study or equivalent skills are expected
- Participants play both together and individually
- Practice between classes is described as essential
