Footwear Design Intensive Short Course

About this course

Participants investigate how shape and function inform footwear design, developing ideas through research and a range of sketching approaches. The course also examines materials, trims, colour and texture, including traditional techniques for applying them. A project brings these strands together as participants develop a footwear collection and prepare specification sheets and design proposals for communicating with manufacturers. Teaching combines lectures with technical workshops. The course focuses on footwear design and does not include shoemaking.
