About this course
The course develops elementary French for everyday communication through topics such as outings, holidays, food, lifestyle, leisure activities, feelings and planning events. Learners practise speaking and listening, with activities designed to build understanding of spoken language, retain vocabulary and communicate more independently in groups. Language work includes partitive articles, quantities, modal verbs in the present tense, the futur proche and negative sentences in the passé composé. The course also considers food habits in France and around the world. Homework is recommended to consolidate learning.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for learners who have completed French 2 lower at a gentle pace, module 1, or who have recently studied French for at least a year. The Elementary (A2) label indicates developing basic communication beyond the earliest stage. Learners should be prepared to practise speaking and listening, including in group activities, at a slower pace than standard courses.
- Learners should already be able to discuss current and past habits, give advice, shop, talk about the weather, and describe skills and interests.
- Homework is highly recommended to reinforce the class learning.
- The course proceeds more slowly than standard French courses.
