About this course
The course develops lower-intermediate French through speaking and listening activities based on social media, false advertising, complaints and online reviews. Learners examine ways to agree, disagree and express opinions and feelings, including the present subjunctive, the indicative and double-pronoun sentences. Cultural content includes Stromae and strikes in France. Teaching includes spoken-language listening practice, group-speaking guidance, vocabulary-retention activities and strategies for communicating more independently. Learners also practise writing an online review, with homework recommended to consolidate the course work.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for lower-intermediate French learners and moves at a slower pace than the provider’s standard courses. It requires previous study, either at least three years of French or completion of the preceding module. Participation involves speaking in groups, listening practice and recommended homework.
- Learners should be able to discuss the past using a range of past tenses and use pronouns with some accuracy.
- Some knowledge of grammar terms such as verb, noun, conjugation and pronoun is essential.
- The course expects learners to express opinions and tastes and structure more complex ideas in French.
