At B1 French, learners can deal with most everyday situations and explain experiences, opinions and plans in connected language.

About this course
The course uses current news from television, radio and newspapers as prompts for conversation. Learners discuss subjects such as education, the environment, transport, science and technology, art and politics, while practising how to express opinions, compare ideas, and analyse and summarise information. Teaching centres on spoken interaction and communication, with pair work, group activities, role-plays and games. Presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual materials support the sessions, with resources available through Google Classroom.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for learners at Intermediate (B1) level who have progressed beyond the provider’s French 2 upper courses or have studied French for around three years. Participants should be prepared to communicate regularly in pairs and groups, including through role-plays, and to use basic grammar terminology.
- Previous French study is expected, with knowledge of terms such as verb, noun, conjugation and pronoun.
- Participation involves regular spoken interaction, pair work, group work and role-plays.
