About this course
The course examines how geography, migration, history, colonisation, trade and local languages have shaped accents across France, Québec, Africa, the Caribbean and other Francophone regions. Learners compare pronunciation, rhythm and intonation while developing strategies for understanding varied spoken French. Teaching combines authentic audio, interactive discussion, oral practice, pair and group work, role plays and games. Activities focus on recognising accent features and adapting pronunciation for clearer communication with French speakers from different backgrounds.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for upper-intermediate French learners, labelled B2, with approximately five years of study or an equivalent level. As teaching is conducted entirely in French, participants should be comfortable engaging with spoken and written French. The course involves regular spoken interaction and collaborative activities.
