About this course
The course develops advanced French through authentic materials covering cinema, customs and traditions, science and technology, art, literature, social issues and current affairs. Learners are introduced to French-speaking literature while revising complex grammar in context, including past tenses, the subjunctive, the conditional and prepositions, alongside pronunciation work. Teaching centres on spoken communication, with pair and group activities, role plays, games, presentations and audio-visual resources. Learners also write short essays, read newspapers and short stories, and take part in discussions and debates. Homework is highly recommended.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for learners moving from upper-intermediate towards advanced French. It is suitable for those who have completed French 4: module 1 or recently studied French for five years. Familiarity with grammar terminology including the subjunctive, conditional, direct and indirect speech, and pronouns is essential.
- Learners should be prepared for regular spoken interaction.
