About this course
This taster examines two literary texts to introduce major developments in French and Francophone literature from the late twentieth century to the present. It considers how literary forms and genres have changed in relation to historical and cultural contexts, including poetry, drama, fiction and essays, alongside political, philosophical, religious and social themes. Teaching centres on spoken interaction and communication. Participants analyse literary texts, translate literary articles, discuss their interpretations, and may write essays or give presentations in French.

The course is intended for learners with a very good level of French, described as C1/C2, who can read literary works and express themselves fluently in spoken and written discussions. Participation involves sustained engagement with literature, history, culture and society, including presentations and classroom discussion in French.
