What Beginner (A1) French means

At A1 French, learners are beginning to use familiar words and simple sentences in predictable everyday situations.

  • Introduce yourself

Je m’appelle Léa. J’habite à Londres et je travaille dans un café.

My name is Léa. I live in London and I work in a café.

  • Order in a café

Je voudrais un café et un croissant, s’il vous plaît.

I would like a coffee and a croissant, please.

  • Ask for directions

Excusez-moi, où est la gare ?

Excuse me, where is the station?

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.
