About this course
The course develops spoken French through extended listening, discussion and conversation on familiar subjects, current affairs and travel situations. Learners work towards expressing viewpoints, presenting detailed descriptions and interacting with greater fluency and spontaneity. The wider programme also covers reading articles that present particular attitudes, writing connected texts and letters, and understanding spoken media such as television news. Tutor feedback and advice form part of the course.
What you'll learn
- Understand extended speech and some complex arguments on reasonably familiar topics.
- Participate in discussions and unprepared conversations about everyday interests and current issues.
- Present detailed descriptions and explain viewpoints, including the advantages and disadvantages of different options.
- Read articles about contemporary problems and identify the attitudes or viewpoints presented.
- Write connected, detailed texts and letters about interests, experiences and points of view.

The course is intended for intermediate learners who can already manage everyday conversations, understand the main points of clear speech and write about familiar subjects. It involves regular spoken interaction, discussion and expressing opinions, alongside reading and writing.
