About this course
Participants develop a toile before cutting and constructing a short, lined jacket with hook-and-eye closures. The course covers quilting to add body, pressing to shape the garment and couture hand-stitching techniques used to refine its finish. Teaching combines garment construction with an introduction to Coco Chanel’s work and Parisian atelier methods. Learners can also consider design additions such as fringing, gimp braiding or pockets while working towards shared daily construction milestones.

The course is intended for intermediate sewists who are confident using a sewing machine and are prepared to undertake a challenging garment project. Sessions work towards set daily milestones, so participants may need to continue hand sewing between classes.
