French film ciné-club (Spring)

About this course

This ciné-club examines French and Francophone cinema through selected films spanning different periods, directors and styles. Each screening is introduced with relevant film-studies context, followed by discussion of the film’s form, historical setting and modes of spectatorship. Sessions consider how cinema has developed as an artistic and historical form, including visual style, cinematic self-expression and different ways of understanding the viewing experience. The format centres on watching complete films collectively and analysing them through structured group discussion.
