French – Intermediate

About this course

This course develops intermediate French through a communicative approach centred on real-life interactions. Learners work with present, past and future contexts, extending vocabulary and practising longer, more complex sentences. Classroom activities include role-play and group discussions based on situations such as making appointments, speaking at a doctor’s, asking about places of interest and planning holidays. The course also covers weather and forecasts, describing past events with passé composé and imparfait, and expressing preferences and opinions. Progress is reviewed through in-class observation and activities, with learners recording reflections in a Personal Learning Plan.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners developing beyond fundamental French skills, with previous study equivalent to Lower Intermediate French Stage 1 and 2, or approximately three years of study. Participation includes role-play, group discussions and other classroom activities.

• Previous French study or equivalent experience is required.
• Regular attendance is advised to support continued language development.
