About this course

The course introduces French through lessons taught primarily in French, with group work and role-plays supporting spoken interaction. Learners practise listening, speaking, reading and writing while working with basic grammar, including the present tense of être and avoir, articles, pronouns and negation. Topics include introductions, personal information, preferences, family, numbers and dates. The course also addresses formal and informal language, naming customs and social conventions in French-speaking contexts.

This course is intended for complete beginners who have never studied French. Participation includes spoken communication, group work and role-plays, while lessons are primarily conducted in French. Learners with some existing French knowledge are directed towards a placement test or a more suitable level.
