About this course

The course uses spoken communication to explore cultural events, festivals, music, cinema, theatre, literature, art and cultural identity. Learners practise expressing opinions, giving advice and discussing cultural topics, while developing grammar through the present conditional, restriction, cause and consequence. Teaching combines group activities, role-plays and systematic language work. The teacher conducts lessons in French to support listening and comprehension, with vocabulary covering cultural events, music genres, artists and the arts. Content draws on Francophone festivals, hip-hop culture and French-speaking pop culture.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for intermediate learners developing beyond foundational French towards a more advanced level. It requires previous study equivalent to French Level 16 or at least 192 class hours. Participation includes spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with the teacher speaking French throughout.
