About this course

Lessons are primarily conducted in French and combine spoken communication with interactive activities, including group work and role-plays. Learners practise using French in everyday situations while developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Course content covers personal information, events, questions, present-tense verbs, explanations using pourquoi, parce que and pour, and language for professions, countries, places, years and dates. It also introduces aspects of French-speaking communities, including La Francophonie and the Alliance Française. Progression is based on participation and self-study rather than formal tests.

What you'll learn

• Discuss French-language learning and announce events with relevant details
• Exchange personal information when getting to know other people
• Use present-tense forms of verbs including apprendre and venir
• Form questions with interrogative adjectives such as quel, quelle and quels
• Apply pourquoi, parce que and pour with an infinitive or noun
• Recognise gender forms for professions and countries and use prepositions with places

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners who have completed a beginner French course. The provider recommends previous study at Level 1 or a course of at least 12 class hours. Lessons involve spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with French used as the main classroom language.
