About this course

The course develops French for everyday communication through lessons taught primarily in French. Learners practise listening, speaking, reading and writing, with group work and role-plays used to explore practical situations such as finding accommodation, describing places and giving directions. Language work covers articles, adjectives, prepositions of place, transport expressions and selected common verbs in context. Lessons also include cultural material relating to Marseille, Lyon and the Fête des lumières.

• Describe accommodation and places, and ask for or give directions
• Use definite, indefinite and demonstrative adjectives in French
• Apply prepositions of place and the use of à and en with different modes of transport
• Use aller, prendre and descendre in relevant contexts

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners at Elementary (A2) level who have already studied some French. Previous completion of French Level 2 or a course of at least 24 class hours is recommended. Participation includes group work and role-plays, with spoken communication central to the lessons.
