About this course
Lessons are primarily conducted in French and use interactive activities, including group work and role-plays, to practise spoken communication. The course develops listening, speaking, reading and writing through everyday topics such as work organisation, routines, household chores, schedules and mealtimes. Language work includes time expressions, prepositions, infinitives, pronominal verbs and selected irregular verb forms. Learners also examine aspects of life in France and Francophone countries, including intergenerational living and a vacation routine discussed in relation to Roland Barthes.
What you'll learn
- Discuss work organisation, daily habits and household responsibilities.
- Use time indicators, time prepositions and expressions of frequency to describe schedules.
- Apply affirmative and negative infinitives with devoir, pouvoir and vouloir.
- Use selected verbs, including verbs ending in -cer and verbs such as sortir, partir and dormir.
- Understand information about work schedules and mealtimes in France and Francophone countries.
- Discuss sociocultural topics including household chores, intergenerational living and vacation routines.
Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners already studying French, with previous study at Level 4 or a course of at least 48 class hours recommended. Lessons involve spoken communication, group work and role-plays, and are mainly conducted in French. A placement test is suggested for anyone unsure whether this level is suitable.
