French Proficiency Conversation Term 2

About this course

Conducted in French, this face-to-face course uses learner-centred communicative activities including debate, class discussion and presentations. Participants work with authentic reading and audiovisual material, identifying main ideas, details and implicit meaning before summarising information and reconstructing arguments or accounts coherently. Topics focus on contemporary affairs and cultural, social and political issues in French-speaking countries. The course also develops research and written communication through homework, with regular tutor feedback. Learners can discuss their aims at the beginning and set personal targets linked to the course outcomes and possible progression.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for Advanced (C1+) learners with a good command of French across all four skills, equivalent to A-level or similar. Participation involves communicating in French through discussions, debates and presentations, alongside a fair amount of research and written homework.
