About this course
Learners study literary works by French-speaking writers alongside their social and cultural contexts. The course develops close reading through interpretation of themes, characters, language, style and register. Teaching is conducted in French using learner-centred activities, including debates, class discussion and presentations. Tutor feedback is provided regularly as learners work collaboratively and independently on their analysis.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for upper-intermediate French learners, with the B2 label indicating work beyond fundamental language skills. A good command of French and English is required, and learners should be prepared to participate in French-language discussions, debates and presentations. Excellent attendance, punctuality and additional study outside class are expected.
