French Wine Scholar Classroom Course

About this course

The course surveys France’s major wine regions and grape varieties, combining guided tasting with study of regional styles. Participants taste more than 50 wines, describe wines from key areas, and consider informal approaches to regional food and wine matching. Teaching also covers appropriate storage and service for French wines. A study manual and online learning package support the taught material, including multimedia modules, quizzes, forums and downloadable maps. The course concludes with a 100-question multiple-choice examination, requiring a mark of 75% to pass.

The course is presented as suitable for learners at all levels, including those with an enthusiastic interest in French wine. No previous wine-tasting experience is necessary. It may also serve as supplementary study for learners who are studying or have completed WSET Level 3 or Level 4.
