From Fabric to Fashion: Salwar Kameez Making (part 2)

An improver sewing course covering salwar construction, commercial patterns, garment shaping and machine-applied decorative trims.
About this course
Learners develop an existing clothesmaking foundation by taking measurements, cutting and sewing a salwar, and working from a commercial pattern. Teaching covers how to interpret pattern instructions and diagrams, use more advanced sewing-machine settings, and create volume with tucks and gathers. The course also addresses elastic insertion and the machine application of trims such as ric-rac, lace and braids. The project brings these techniques together in a complete salwar kameez outfit.
