A remote beginner course covering practical maths for everyday life and work, including arithmetic, measurement, shapes, data and problem-solving.
About this course
The course develops foundational number skills through addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages and money. Learners also explore measurement, area, perimeter and the properties of shapes, then collect, organise and interpret information using tables and charts. Teaching is delivered remotely through tasks, activities and classwork, with learning checked throughout the sessions. Practical problems provide contexts for applying mathematical knowledge, and formal Functional Skills Maths exams form part of the assessment.
