Game Of The Improv Scene Course

About this course

The course focuses on recognising the unusual or funny element within an organically developing scene and using it to shape long-form improvisation. Participants explore premise-based initiations, supporting a premise, and building a clear base reality before developing the scene’s game. Teaching includes free-association exercises, object work, stagecraft, emotional play and the use of space. The course concludes with an Armando showcase format featuring premise initiations, and introduces Blanche’s terminology for game, its elements and different scene types.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for improvisers who have completed at least two levels of improv training. Its Intermediate (B1) label suggests work beyond fundamental techniques, while the content may also suit experienced performers refining their approach to game-based scenes.

• Beginners are advised to complete foundational and advanced scene-work training, or an equivalent, before enrolling
• Intermediates can study game of the scene as a new area of practice
• The course may suit performers working towards a Blanche house team
• The class has a maximum of 12 participants

• Enrollment includes two free tickets to any Blanche show and free standby tickets to Blanche house shows
