What Elementary (A2) Spanish means

At A2 Spanish, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

Normalmente voy al trabajo en autobús y vuelvo a casa a las seis.

I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

¿Quieres ir al cine el sábado por la tarde?

Would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

Ayer cené con unos amigos y después dimos un paseo.

Yesterday I had dinner with friends and then we went for a walk.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

The course develops Spanish through places, weather, shopping, clothes, colours and preferences. Learners practise describing locations, discussing climate, asking for prices, expressing needs and comparing choices, while building vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation from Aula Internacional Plus A1 Units 3 and 4. Each lesson combines coursebook work with communicative practice such as role-plays, speaking games, cultural discussions and short presentations. The teacher speaks Spanish throughout, with activities including a Spanish market scenario, travel planning and a final destination presentation.

What you'll learn

  • Describe places and explain where things are located
  • Discuss weather, seasons and climate
  • Ask for products and prices in shopping situations
  • Describe clothes, colours and everyday objects
  • Express needs, preferences and intentions using key verb structures
  • Discuss aspects of the Spanish-speaking world

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for adults who have completed Spanish Level 1 or at least 12 class hours of previous Spanish study. The Elementary (A2) label indicates a course beyond initial beginner work. Participation includes regular speaking, role-plays, group discussion and short presentations in a face-to-face classroom.

  • Requires previous Spanish study rather than being suitable for complete beginners
  • Uses a slower-paced format with time for consolidation
  • Includes frequent spoken interaction and communicative activities

Before you go

  • The course uses Aula Internacional Plus A1, Units 3 and 4. Learners who do not already have the book can purchase it from reception from the second lesson onwards.
