About this course

The course introduces foundational German through topics such as greetings, personal details, nationalities, family, work, numbers and basic physical descriptions. Learners practise the four language skills using role-play, games, pair and small-group tasks, as well as individual exercises. Classwork includes writing simple words and sentences, completing grammar activities, revising vocabulary and grammar, and listening for general meaning or specific basic information. Learners also practise introducing themselves, asking and answering straightforward personal questions, making simple requests and asking for clarification.
