About this course

The course introduces German for everyday communication, covering greetings, introductions, personal information, countries, languages, numbers, hobbies, plans, jobs and working hours. Lessons combine spoken interaction with work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading and writing. Teaching is primarily in German and uses activities including group work and role-plays. Learners also develop essential grammar, including questions, verb conjugation, pronouns, articles, plurals, haben and sein, while exploring formal and informal forms of address and aspects of German-speaking cultures.

Is this course right for you?

This course is designed for complete beginners with no previous German study. Participation includes spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with lessons taught mainly in German. Learners who already have some basic knowledge are advised to take a placement test or contact the language department about a more suitable level.
