What Beginner (A1) German means

At A1 German, learners are beginning to use familiar words and simple sentences in predictable everyday situations.

  • Introduce yourself

Ich heiße Anna. Ich wohne in London.

My name is Anna. I live in London.

  • Order in a café

Ich hätte gern einen Kaffee, bitte.

I would like a coffee, please.

  • Ask for directions

    Entschuldigung, wo ist der Bahnhof?

Excuse me, where is the station?

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.
