About this course

The course develops communication in situations including discussing past events and life changes, understanding workplace conversations and radio broadcasts, apologising, expressing hypotheses, handling telephone enquiries, and understanding job applications. German employment applications and interviews provide a socio-cultural context. Teaching combines spoken interaction with systematic work on past tense, time markers, Subjunctive II, pronouns, pronominal adverbs, verbs with prepositions and subordinate clauses. The teacher uses German throughout the lessons to develop comprehension and listening, alongside grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation work.
