About this course

The course combines spoken German with systematic work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and listening. Learners use German throughout the lessons while discussing topics including art, social engagement, politics, Europe and city institutions. Activities include sharing information from newspaper articles, expressing disagreement and preferences, describing people and processes, and understanding advertisements, interviews and improvised stories. Grammar work covers word order in negations, adjectives without articles, and passive constructions in several tenses, including with modal verbs. Group work and role-plays provide the main format for practising communication.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners at Intermediate (B1) level who have studied German previously and are progressing towards more advanced work. The stated entry route is completion of German Level 16 or at least 192 class hours. Participation centres on spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with teaching conducted in German.

• The coursebook Netzwerk neu B1.2, Units 9 and 10, is required and should be purchased after the first lesson.
