About this course

The course develops German for everyday situations, with lessons primarily conducted in German and an emphasis on spoken communication. Learners practise asking for directions, describing places, discussing food and hobbies, and managing conversations in shops and restaurants. Teaching combines group work, role-play and work across listening, speaking, reading and writing. The syllabus introduces vocabulary for transport, time, shopping and food alongside grammar including articles, sentence structure, the accusative case, imperatives and modal verbs. Cultural topics include German dining, shopping and family life.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners at Elementary level who have completed a beginner course or studied German for at least 12 hours. Participation involves spoken communication, group activities and role-play, with lessons mainly conducted in German. Learners unsure of their level can take a placement test.
