German Level 3 | Afternoons

About this course

Lessons develop spoken communication alongside listening, reading and writing. Learners practise everyday situations including telling the time, discussing family and hobbies, making appointments, handling dates and events, and ordering food and drinks. Teaching combines interactive activities, group work and role-play with language development. Topics include time expressions, possessive articles, modal and separable verbs, accusative pronouns, the past tense of haben and sein, and cultural information about events in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

What you'll learn

• Discuss family members, relationships, hobbies and daily routines in German.
• Tell the time and use dates, birthdays and event-related information.
• Make appointments by telephone and understand invitations.
• Order and pay for food and drinks.
• Use time prepositions, possessive articles, modal verbs, separable verbs and selected accusative forms.
• Understand and produce spoken and written German in familiar everyday situations.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners who have completed German Level 2 or studied German for at least 24 hours. Lessons are mainly conducted in German and involve spoken communication, group work and role-play, with progression linked to participation and self-study rather than formal tests.

• Previous German study is expected, with a stated minimum of 24 hours or completion of Level 2.
• Learners take part in group activities and role-plays.
• A placement test is recommended if the learner is unsure of their level.

• The coursebook should be purchased after the first lesson and can be bought at reception before the second class.
