About this course

The course develops German for everyday communication, covering topics such as telling the time, family relationships, appointments, hobbies, dates, invitations, food and drink, and event information. Lessons work across listening, speaking, reading and writing, with grammar including modal verbs, separable verbs, possessive articles, accusative pronouns and past forms of haben and sein. Teaching is primarily in German and uses group work and role-plays to practise spoken language. The course also introduces cultural information about events in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Progression is based on participation and self-study rather than formal tests.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners at Elementary level who have completed German Level 2 or studied German for at least 24 hours. It involves regular spoken participation, including group work and role-plays. A placement test is available for learners unsure of their level.
