About this course
The course introduces fundamental approaches associated with Jooss, Leder and Laban, including contractions, leading from the wrist, lifting the chest, and dropping and recovering weight. Tutor-led technical exercises and movement sequences are combined with improvisation, emotional storytelling, gestures, voice and speech. Participants develop dance material and choreography using German Tanztheater’s compositional tools, with guidance and constructive feedback throughout. Digital resources such as film and photography may also inform the study. Work created during the course may be presented at Morley College dance events.
