About this course
The course develops workplace digital skills through guided, step-by-step tasks completed individually and with other learners. Topics include finding, evaluating, organising and storing digital information; identifying basic technical problems; creating documents and presentations; processing numerical data in Word, PowerPoint and Excel; and communicating online. It also covers online services and secure digital transactions, alongside privacy, data protection and responsible online activity. Learners prepare for the Essential Digital Skills for Work Level 1 (BCS) qualification, with tutor guidance and opportunities to practise tasks in class and through Google Classroom.

This Level 1 course is intended for learners developing workplace digital skills beyond the complete-beginner stage. It involves individual and group tasks, attendance at every class and preparation for an examination outside the classroom. Foundation courses are suggested for complete beginners.

- Complete beginners are directed towards foundation-level introductory courses
Before you go
- Learners should bring a pen, lined A4 paper and a folder for their work.
- Handouts and access to Google Classroom are provided.
- Work outside the classroom is required; access to a PC outside class is helpful.
