Getting ready for Functional Skills English (level 1)

About this course

The course develops English skills through work with everyday texts, including articles, instructions and reports. Learners practise identifying and comparing information, then write emails, letters and other documents for different purposes, using suitable tone, structure and detail. Sessions also cover spelling, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary and literary devices. Participants share ideas in discussions, respond to others, and use Google Classroom and other digital tools to complete tasks online. Tutor guidance supports learners to set goals and work towards the Functional Skills English Level 1 qualification.
