Getting ready for Functional Skills English (level 1)

About this course

This preparatory course develops English skills needed before starting a Functional Skills English Level 1 qualification. Learners work with everyday texts, including articles, instructions and reports, and practise writing emails, letters and other documents for different purposes. Sessions also cover spelling, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary and literary devices. Speaking and listening activities include presenting ideas, joining group discussions and responding to others. Tutor guidance supports individual learning goals, while Google Classroom and other digital tools are used to complete and support tasks online.
