About this course

This preparatory course introduces the content, level and expectations of Functional Skills English Level 1. Learners work with different texts, identify main points and details, and read for purposes such as finding information or evaluating relevance. Writing activities cover planning, organising ideas, adapting writing to different readers and purposes, grammar and spelling accuracy. The course also includes participation in formal and informal discussions. Teaching combines classroom instruction with activities, alongside online learning materials for consolidating work outside class.
