Getting Ready For Functional Skills English – Level 2

About this course

The course develops English skills through real-life reading, writing and speaking tasks. Learners practise identifying main points and details in different texts, reading for varied purposes, planning and organising written work, and adapting writing for different readers. They also work on basic grammar, spelling and participation in formal and informal discussions. Teaching combines classroom instruction with activities. Learners’ skills are assessed and developed through a folder of work and a Personal Learning Plan, with work gathered and marked by the tutor. The course is intended to prepare learners for the full Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification.

The course is intended for learners preparing to progress to Functional Skills English Level 2. Level 1 Functional Skills English is an entry requirement, and learners must complete an initial assessment before starting. Participation includes classroom activities, assessed written work and discussion tasks.
