Getting Ready for Functional Skills Maths (level 1)

About this course

The course develops core maths skills through work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages, including calculations involving money, time, length, weight and capacity. Learners also examine common two-dimensional shapes, angles, area and perimeter, and practise comparing and ordering numbers. Activities include reading tables and charts, presenting data in different formats, calculating totals, averages, mean and range, and expressing probabilities as fractions. Teaching is structured around step-by-step practice, with learners working at their own pace and receiving tutor support as they prepare for the Functional Skills Maths Level 1 qualification.
