About this course
The course develops practical numeracy through work with whole numbers, positive and negative values, fractions, decimals and percentages. Learners practise calculations, evaluating expressions and using simple formulae, alongside applying maths to costs, budgets, balances, discounts and simple interest. Other activities cover data, measurement and space, including area, perimeter, volume, scale drawings, coordinates and two- and three-dimensional shapes. Learning takes place through practical tasks, with tutor guidance and opportunities to work at an individual pace.
