Getting started in digital skills: becoming confident on Facebook and Instagram (complete beginners)

About this course

The course introduces the main functions of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter, including account creation, profiles, connections, posts, stories and navigation. Participants practise uploading and editing photos, adding filters, captions and tags, creating Instagram stories, and using TikTok effects, music and editing tools. Facebook content covers the differences between pages, profiles and groups, while Twitter includes tweets, hashtags and followers. Teaching combines tutor guidance with individual and shared tasks, helping participants practise each process gradually. Privacy settings and ways to control what is shared are covered across the platforms.

What you'll learn

Is this course right for you?

This course is designed for complete beginners using these apps. Learning is gradual and step by step, with participants working both independently and with other students on tasks. Some study outside the classroom is expected, including use of Google Classroom.
