About this course
The course examines Gothic architecture through its structure, forms, stylistic features and religious symbolism, tracing the development of the medieval style through examples such as Chartres and Reims. It also considers Gothic’s influence on Neo-Gothic, the Gothic Revival and design reform movements, with works including Strawberry Hill, St Giles, the Natural History Museum and the Red House. Teaching combines lectures, slide presentations, activities and group discussions, supported by tutor-provided handouts.
