Guitar: the set list (pop, rock and blues improvers)

About this course

The course develops guitar skills through more demanding songs, including single-note riffs and a broader range of chord shapes. Repertoire spans blues, jazz, folk and reggae, with lessons also introducing the fundamentals of improvisation. Learning combines demonstrations, discussion, listening and analysis, group exercises, peer assessment and individual practice. Practical activities are assessed throughout, with verbal and written feedback from the teacher and peers. Supporting online materials are also used.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for guitarists progressing beyond beginner study. Enrolment requires completion of the provider’s beginner guitar course or equivalent experience, including a good command of basic open chords and the ability to play through a song’s chord sequence without stopping. Group exercises, peer assessment and regular individual practice are part of the course.
