Gypsy / Flush setting (1 day)

About this course

The course explores how round brilliant-cut faceted stones are set level with a metal surface. Demonstrations introduce the technique and its application, including the relationship between stone size and metal thickness, and how stone hardness affects the process. Participants make a bespoke setting tool and practise on flat and curved samples before applying the method to their own designs. Materials and tools are introduced as a group, followed by individual advice on specific pieces.

• Participants bringing a personal project should also bring the relevant metal and gemstones.
